Noises from air con

Any ideas on this one please? After a run when the engine is off and cooling down, there are noises from behind the dash that sound like water trickling. I suspect that the drainage hoses from the air con maybe blocked? Does anyone know how they can be accessed and checked? System seems to be working fine, so I assume it does not need regassing?

Thanks,

andy p.

Sorry Andy. No experience with this problem. Perhaps another member can help.

I suppose the quickest route is to take to a suitably skilled and equiped air con business.

Alternatively, Dave Marks may be able to help. Suggest you drop him a mail.

Perhaps you could post here again when you have found an answer.

Kind regards,

Mike

For the record Dave marks never heard of this problem on an S Type. Am ignoring the noise for now, as no obvious leak into the car........

Interesting Andy.

Generally, when you have used the aircon on a hot day, one can expect to see a puddle of condensed water under the car. If it forms inside the car then there is most definately a problem!

I think just monitor the situation for the time being. Might be difficult to fix something that may not be bust!

When I switch off I can hear the motors , valves, flaps moving for up to 5 mins behind the dash. It's as though they reset back to a common position.

I had the bubbling noise coming from behind the dash aswell. There is a TSB to fix this, which I had done by the dealer when I found the TSB. Known Issue.

Hope this helps.

JTB00066v3/2010

Subject/Concern: Ticking or Bubbling Noise from Behind the Fascia
Model:
S-TYPE VIN Range: N53000-N91220
Markets: All
Section: 412-00
Summary
Ticking or bubbling noise from behind the fascia.
This version has been issued due to a change in the Labor Time, as the instrument pack is not being renewed the reconfigure time has now been removed.

Cause: Potentiometers within the blend door actuators are giving incorrect position feedback to the climate control module, causing the blend doors to continually search for the correct position, hence causing noises. Suggested Customer Concern Code - C09.

Action: Should a customer express concern, replace all four blend door actuators. Follow the Service Instruction outlined below.
