New Disc & Pads

Postby Gatewaya89 » Thu Aug 06, 2015 7:07 pm

Hi All

Having just brought my S-Type 2005 I would like to renew both front & rear disc & brakes and a couple of questions need answering if anyone can help?

1st: I being told that "Pagit" are best replacements if not buying direct from Jaguar and are fairly priced, On this point have been quoted by Halfords a total of £330.00 inc for the total job when I got a quote from a Jag specialist it was double this with labour coming out at £70.00 per hour!!

2nd: It worries me when I read some postings on here that some garages may not have the know how or correct tools as to how to change pads and disc thoughout without upsetting the park brake switch and its function?

Living in Essex we have limited Jaguar specialist and lots of other independants who say they can so question is who can you trust and what is the best OE pads and disk to use as they all use different suppliers so some go with Pagit others say Delphi and some even say motorpart! If I drove a ford focus I wouldn't go into this detail but as its a S-Type 2.5 Jaguar it needs to be able to stop when you need to!

Any help guidance or just people who may have had work carried out by Halfords on there Jaguar would be appreciated!

So oldtimer not dissapointed! just amazed that everyone you get a quote with is saying "its a Jag what do you expect" and if as you say they are only ford parts can I put it in to a Ford dealer then and will they have the tools and the know how as to getting the job done?

Decided not to mess around so booked it into my local Halfords and they fitted brand new disc & Pagit brakes all round for the grand sum of £330.00 all in and done a brilliant job! Now car brakes brilliantly at whatever speed and guess what? No squealing what so ever Oh what bliss to not hear that sound anymore...lol

Elite on the A13 west of Southend have a good reputation for maintenance and Jag car sales. You might contact them for your future needs.

Glad you got it done.
