Connectors on Rear Electronic Module

I have purchased a secondhand rear electronic module as it seems from other posts that this is probably the cause of my faulty RH rear indicator. I have started to replace the module. The multiway connectors seem difficult to remove. Has anyone got any tips for removing and replacing these as I don't want to risk damaging any pins in the connectors?

Hi Steve,
I have not checked the connectors on the rear of mine but I did strip the front end down recently to fix a droopy headlight problem. In doing so I came across three types of electrical connector. One had plastic tab and clip locks - lift the clip gently away from the tab to separate these. Another was locked in place using a spring steel clip that locked the two parts of the connector together - tease the steel clip out with snipe nose pliers. The third, on the main headlight loom, has a red tab mounted in the socket to lock the two parts together, push this to the rear of the connector and pull the two have apart - be careful with this type, you can push the complete tab out of the socket and lose it. I also found that a spray of DW40 also helps.
Cheers,
Cubist

Thanks for the reply, Cubist.
It turned out when I went back to the job yesterday when there was a bit more daylight only one of the connectors was hard to remove. As you suggested you have to push down a tab on each connector to release it.

Hi Clive Try Eurojag give them the details of your old unit serial numbers etc and your cars vin number. I got a rear parking sensor module from them some time ago and its still going strong. There details are in the magazine.
