Flashing wheel light

Postby Darrenjoyce » Sat Jul 28, 2018 6:56 pm

Hi all

Just need a bit of info, my 51 sport just came back from paint shop, and I noticed a flashing wheel sign, it does not go out even when car not driving. I have a icarsoft LRV1.0 scanner, but shows no faults with abs, I no my battery went flat at the garage, so I bought a brand new one, put it on charge for a while then fitted it, but still got the flashing light, anyone have a idea what my problem could be

Hi,
It sounds to me like your 'flashing wheel' sign could be the Handbrake symbol? If so then the fact that it's flashing may indicate a fault with the electric handbrake system.

Hi pal

It's a pre facelift car, normal hand brake, it's a orange wheel, with what looks like skid after it

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins and see what happens.

Thanks Jeff

Will try that, been looking on internet, which is probably the worst thing I could of done, they tell you the course could be from flat tyres to washer fluid low (LOL)

But with a flashing light, would that not give a fault code

In that case it sounds like it's maybe telling you there's something wrong with the traction control (anti-skid) system. If so I would have thought it should give you a code for the error, but your 51 plate car might just be too early for guaranteed full OBDII compatibility. Does it read all the other data you can get from the engine dynamic data stuff and various other ECU status?

The light normally comes on and stays on when the Traction Control / DSC is manually switched off, this is to remind you to switch it back on again. When the system is on and operating the light will flash on and off when the Car meets limited traction conditions like standing water in heavy rain. Pre 1st and 2nd Facelift Cars use a different light, if there are no codes or warnings on the info screen I would try switching it on and off a few times, Switch to the right of your Hazard Switch. There should be info in the Handbook apertaining to your Model.

Hi Montana 5

I have a switch next to the sports mode button, to turn on or off the dsc, that works, as when turned off it tells in in the message area, same as turning back on. Disconnected battery for 30 mins joined cables together, reconnected the battery , still wheel sign flashing, checked again with fault code reader, still no faults showing , my car is a 51 plate

Hi all

Do you think it needs to go to jaguar to reprogram the ecu

Traction, DSC and Cruise Control are all linked, does the Cruise Control work ok, have you felt the Engine power decreasing when driving.
Its possible the Traction Control Module needs a re programme, however you need to ask yourself when did this problem begin and you know the answer to that, so I would take the Car back to the Paintshop and explain to them, asking them to look around all the Wheel Sensors and Reluctor Rings for bits of masking material or overspray and checking for dislodged Sensor connectors.

Hi Doug

Thanks for that, the engine power has always been great, don't really use cruise control, but I did ring the body shop today, there reply was, as normal, was ok when it was here, In the end I had to bit the bullet and took it to jaguar, and as you said reprogrammed the abs/traction control module and all good now, no fault codes nothing, they said its just one of those things, I've just been unlucky. And as I happen to know the parts manager, and it was dinner time when I took it, if you know what I mean cost me £10 in the back pocket.

So thanks all for the advise it was much apricated
