electric seats

Postby stewpot » Sun Aug 06, 2017 11:42 am

Is there such a thing as ease of access, every time i take the key out of the ignition the drivers seat goes right down to it's lowest point, having had the car for 10 years it has only just started doing this, when i put the key back in the ignition it returns to it's original setting, i have tried everything i can think of playing with the auto set buttons,it's more of an annoyance than anything else i have owned and driven jaguars for nearly 20 years and none of my other cars have ever done this,is there a switch somewhere that you can turn off , hope you can help with this annoying problem . thanks . :(

I don't know the buttons on the S type, but if it's the same as the XJ it sounds as though you have got it set in 'Auto' mode on the steering column switch without realising this. If you leave it set to either 'pedals' or 'steering wheel' it will stop the annoying (IMHO) seat movements when taking the key in or out.

Just shows how one person's annoyance is another's delight. I really like this feature as, having long legs, the car moving the seat back, steering wheel up and out of the way and (on my old X350) moving the pedals back gave me much more room to get in and out.
Each to his own!
As Brian says, the rotary switch on the side of the steering column will be set to "auto" to enable this feature so easy to switch it off if it irks you.
Best wishes
