locking from remote

Hi, all, I have a 2005 s type petrol done 60,000mls. Only problem ive had is the remote unit, until lately I could get out of the car and press the lock button and it would lock from anywhere, the same to open. but lately I have to walk around the car pressing the lock button until it finds the right spot then it locks. But it will open from anywhere and a good distance away. Ive changed the battery but that didn't seem to help. Any ideas please

Remove the circuit board from the remote control and give the face of the board a good clean using an appropriate electronic cleaner. Then try again.
