Hello Folks
Just started on the Rear Parking Sensor problem now, not had them working for about 6 years . Dismantled all the bits in the boot ready to take off the bumper cover to gain access to the four sensors on the rear. i930 OBD reader tells me the malfunctioning one is the Right Rear corner sensor. Now have to remove the rear wheels to get at the final retaining bolts. Stopped there for a while , back aches bending in to the boot. Will update once I've got the wheels off and tried to take the bumper cover off. Car still on SORN saving me a bit of money whilst doing all this.
Having said that I will still have spent more than the car is worth to date, but it's fun having a Jaguar in retirement.

Dave, as far as I know you can reach the corner sensors from the removed rear lights panel in the Boot.

Re: Parking Sensor Problem
Hello Doug
Yes I read that on the Forum somewhere, however I want to check and or replace all the existing sensors and check the wiring. I'm convinced there is loads of muck and debris behind the Bumper Cover and the connections are hence corroded. Some of the retaining bolts I've removed from the boot area have rusty threads. In the summers when it's been very hot and rain free the rear sensors sometimes work but if I go through a Car Wash they stop working immediately.

Re: Parking Sensor Problem
Hello Folks
Started jacking the car up, offside, to get at the wheel arch liner and 2 bumper retaining bolts behind it. Found enough access to get to all the retainers without taking the wheel off. However, starting with the offside pair of bumper retaining bolts, I'm merrily unscrewing them with nothing seeming to happen, then the side bit of the Bumper cover dropped down leaving the retaining clips rusted in place. This had taken the inner bumper cover plastic moulding bits still trapped between the sprung clips on both. So on refitting I'll have to come up with an alternative method to affix these two locations on to the chassis hard points. I hate these clips, it always happens. I started on the nearside but found the same problem, rusted solid, so stopped. The Bumper Cover I found was sufficiently loose to be able to get at all the sensors. So I cleaned the contacts and changed all the units. Now I have to test it somehow and reassemble everything. There was loads of muck and debris behind the cover.

Re: Parking Sensor Problem
I'm sure these clips are available on e-bay, there may also be a 25 piece set in Stainless Steel.

Re: Parking Sensor Problem
Hello Doug
It's not the clips that's the problem only in as much as they are cheap and useless, I have a packet of miscellaneous stainless steel ones purchased some time ago when I had the under tray off, bought to replace the cheap ones originally fitted. The problem is the damage to the bumper cover plastic location slots. Although securing the bumper is done by 7 bolts on the side in question, 2 through the side of the boot ,3 through the wheel arch liner and these 2 behind the bumper cover and wheel arch liner on to chassis hard points . I have fashioned fresh slots in the plastic and along with slightly larger washers fitted to the new clips achieved secure fixing to the chassis. The job is now done and all sensors front and back are working as they should. Booked in for MOT.
