Interior light

Postby tezles42 » Sat Oct 02, 2010 11:35 am

Hi, i am new to the site and a new owner of a 2004 s type 2.5 se+. I look forward to participating in the forum.
I have a question to ask and hopefully it will not sound too daft. When i first got the car upon switching the ignition off the interior light came on to assist you collecting your bits and bobs from the car. However it has stopped operating in this way. The interior lights still work i.e when entering the car or opening the door. I understand that this interior option was programmed as a customer preference. If this is the case has anyone any idea what i have done, can i correct it or is it a dealer job.
Many thanks
Carl

Hello Carl and welcome to the Forum. Your input will always be well received.

Try playing with the roof console switch combinations. The handbook gives details of how they work. It is very easy to knock on of the switches and change the way the system operates. Even after five years of S-type ownership, I still find the switch gear functions rather strange.

Try that and see how you get on.

Kind regards,

Hi mike, Thanks for the tip. I have played around with the switches, key fob, everything to the extent the neighbours think i have lost the plot.
Looks like i have managed to re programe something somehow.
Best regards

Hi folks
Whilst on this subject does anyone know what the small pannel is for inbetween the interior lights and the bit where you can put your sun glasses there is a small amber light in this pannel that comes on when I put the side lights on normally a amber light is a warning but the car runs like a dream and there are no faults

PS. The car has auto lights fitted I wonder if its anything to do with this.

Jeff.

Hi Carl and welcome :D

Jeff...I believe that panel is for the optional fitting of switches for remote garage door opening, Jaguar Information System and SOS. The little slotted opening in the middle is for the garage door transceiver.
The amber light apparently, or so I was told, is actually nothing more than a little ambient light to help the driver see the switches and console in the dark.

Hi Doug.

Thanks for the reply on the amber light.

Has anyone sorted this and identified what worked?

My recently acquired STR does the same - interior lights iluminate on door opening for entry and exit but I want them to also illuminate when I pull the ignition key out (as all my cars to date have done).

Thanks,

Nigel

I'm sure my lights used to come on when removing key, now they don't come on until i open the door.

Mine does the same as Chris`s car. Have to open the door before the interior lights come on. Otherwise I just click the unlock button on the key fob as I pull the key from the ignition. Then the lights come on.

Mine does this aswell.

If there's anyway of retrieving the option of the interior lights illuminating once the key is removed from the ignition then we would all be happy it seems.
