Live Datasteam for 2.7 S Type

Hi, Does anyone have a record of their live datastrem readings for their 2.7 S Type?

2007 S Type 2.7 SE Auto

I am trying to check my live datastream to establish if I have a faulty EGR valve or if the fault is being caused by something else. My fault code is P0404 which appears to related to the EGR valve performance range being incorrect but I have no other symptoms apart from the Restricted Performance message and subsequent lack of power.

My EGR live data stream shows as follows (obviously engine is running but is at idle - using icarsoft i930 code reader)

EGR Fixed set point = 7.25%

EGR controller deviation = -5% (valve 0)
EGR controller deviation = fluctuates between -4.86% and -5%

Difference between MAP set point and actual = fluctuates between -0.06% and 0.18%
MAP set point 99.99KPa

MAF sensor A frequency = 7g/s
MAF sensor B frequency = 11g/s

I'd be most grateful if anyone could post their datastream readings for a comparison.

Many thanks

Keith

Hi Keith I have connected my icarsoft scanner up but I don't seem to get the same info up as your's maybe that's because my car is a 2004 model which is pre DPF. What I did get was difference between EGR re circulation and actual was 0% and MAP difference was between 0- 8 if that makes any sense. My engine was stone cold when I did this so the values could be different with the engine at normal running temp. I could try once again when my engine is at normal temp if you wish. Where abouts do you live as I am in Stockport nr Manchester.

Hi Jeff, Many thanks for your response to my query.

Yes mine is a DPF model 2007 so maybe they have different readings.

The EGR % (percentage) figure shown in the live data refers to the percentage of difference between the EGR valve set point and the actual EGR position. There are two EGR valves, one each side of the engine. Therefore my EGR number 0 is running at -5% or thereabouts at almost any revs whereas the EGR number 1 (which I believe is the drivers side of the engine) runs at up to 23% difference from the set point when revved up. Therein lies the problem. The data shows that EGR valve position 1 is faulty, probably not opening when it should do.

As I was monitoring the live data readings, when the engine had become warmer, the Restricted Performance kicked in and I saw the EGR valve (number 1) percentage immediately drop from 23% down to 5% or thereabouts.

I had tried a full service with Engine oil & filter, fuel filter, air filter etc etc...removing and cleaning the MAP and both MAF sensors, Wynn's EGR cleaner through the air intake (3 x cans) and also Millers Diesel Eco Power additive tin my diesel tank but although these helped a little with the general smooth running of the engine, the fault code P0404 remains. I can clear it with the Icarsoft i930 but the fault code comes back straight away.

I have now narrowed it down to a faulty EGR that needs replacing, although in all other respects my car drives very smoothly but just lacks power when accelerating (due to the RP being on)

I have arranged to have both EGR valves replaced as I suspect that changing just one valve would be a false economy given that the car has done 122k miles.

Thanks again for replying
Regards

Keith

Hi Keith Sorry for the late reply, it might be worth giving David Marks or Matt Quail a call or email to see if they can throw some light on the subject.
