cold starting

hi all
im a new member so look forward to meeting some fellow enthusiasts soon
can anyone help me i have the 3.0 s type petrol only 82k 2007 MY if i turn the key on a cold engine ie overnight it starts then cuts out if i put my foot on the gas pedal it starts and runs as its meant to and smoothly . it will then stop and start all day long without fault, it drives faultlessly also no warning lights or fault code flag up it is very well maintained ahead of recommendations also it starts ok other days in colder/warmer weather new battery fitted this car is serviced and maintained by T&L IN LEEDS they are puzzled by it too
any clues advice greatly appreciated

Try cleaning the throat and throttle plate in the throttle body.

The throttle body rarely receives any attention. Crank case breather residue builds up on the edges of the throttle plate and in the throttle throat. Best cleaned with carb cleaner spray and a soft lint free rag. DO NOT over clean the PTFE coating on the throat. Make sure the underside of the plate also receives attention. Grunge around the throat and plate leads to lack of air flow through the throttle body. No air flow and the car won`t start or run with the throttle fully closed. Try that before doing anything else.

Spoke to local specialist they recommended to try fuel system cleaner additive gave it a go and also ran it on shell max fuel . Fixed problem straight away garage said throttle body on V6 can cause trouble if disturbed but would try if easy route failed .also read in club mag that someone had similar issues but above sorted his car (shell max)

Sometimes that works, on most occasions though, Liqui Moly fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank often helps unclog injector nozzles. See also my posts on Terraclean as a most effective in situe injector cleaning service.

Cleaning the throttle body of gunk is only about a half hour job. Ensure you get a new throttle body gasket before dismantling the throttle unit. Its a simple enough job. Just four Torx bolts hold the throttle to the manifold. The throttle can get in a dreadful mess. Cleaner out the car will run in a much improved fashion. Any fuel injected car I own always gets this job done immediately after purchase. At least you then know this frequently neglected part is clean of much and filth. That`s preventative maintenance!
