Hi, Could someone who has more experience than me please tell me the correct, quickest and or easiest way to get access to the 3 Heater Transfer Pipes on my S1 2+2 which run from the engine bay, through the bulkhead into the void where the wiper motor linkage is then back out through the bulkhead to the Heater control valve etc.. I need to renew them. My engine is out of the vehicle.
Thank you.
Heater Transfer pipes access
Re: Heater Transfer pipes access
Hi, I went through this a few years ago. Its a tricky job. The short ones are OK, but the long one isn't. I wrote in to the Practical Classics helpline and they replied by referring me to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54RXezvj9eE. They said were going to do an article, but I don't know if they ever did.
So, fold down the dash, remove the windscreen wiper motor, gain access through the opening behind the dash. I think I managed to do the job before hearing back and I seemed to remember finding a hole on the heater side, engine side - perhaps the blanking piece for a LHD steering column - and managed to force it in that way. That's not the correct or recommended way. Other tips include putting a cord or wire through the holes and pipe to make it easy to get the pipe ends through the bulkhead holes.
Hope this helps, good luck!
