Hi Charlie
I haven't much more guidance beyond that in our exchanges on this topic in the Brake Section back in August.
If it was me I'd probably try to put the ring on the shaft and place about six 0.5 mm shims equi-spaced around the circumference to hold it neatly, but not so tightly as to distort the ring, then apply a good epoxy adhesive all round to hold everything permanently, taking care not to block any of the square holes in the ring.
When fitting the sensor, use a depth gauge to ensure it's not going to foul the new ring assembly. Shim it back if necessary.
Of course you could try another ring; they're quite cheap and another might fit better.
Good luck whatever you try
Edit note
Thinking more about this, rather than six individual shims, a strip of 0.5 mm wrapped right around the shaft would probably still allow the reluctor ring to be pressed on. After a dry run, epoxy adhesive in all the appropriate places should hold it all together.
