No radio code

Hi,
After having a new alternator fitted and getting my car back, I realized I did not have the code for the radio. Having look at various online tips about pushing different buttons and finding none to work, my unit now just says please wait. I have been waiting for 3 days. Lol. I now really need to find out how to get my music back.
Sorry if this subject is already covered but I have not found the answer.
Thanks

As I recall, the Please Wait message lasts for about 30 (continuous?) minutes. Then wrt the code, the 'cheat' mix of buttons on the fascia only works on earlier cars up to about 2005 MY.
So two options. Try contacting your local Main Dealer and the more customer friendly ones provide the code upon your proof of ownership and VIN. The less generous charge exorbitantly! (If one won't help, try another!)
If you Google 'get radio code' you'll see a number of sites offering to get your code for not much outlay. Among the more obvious details required by them is the radio serial number that is usually on a label attached to the rear of the radio unit - not convenient!

Thank you for your answer. I not going to play around with taking facia these things seem to have a knack of never fitting back so well, so I will have to wait until the dealership open again, then I will ring them.
Thanks again

Hi all,
Just to let you know, I emailed our local Jaguar, Landrover dealership asking for help with the code for my radio. I gave them the registration plate number and the vin code from the log book and within the hour I got a reply. They gave me the correct code, no charge. I’m a happy man.

Hi only1pearson458,
That's good to hear and glad you got it sorted.
My brother acquired an X-Type a few months ago(2007 Sport Premium Estate)and is well pleased with it so far.
Thanks for the update.
Enjoy your X-Type.
Take care and stay safe.
Andy
