I sent in a few technical articles to the mag and none have ever been printed. I did a good one on the Volvo front brake set up which is on a few websites around the world but never printed in the JEC mag.

i have also sent in several items, one was eventually printed, but with the wrong name against it !!


an apology was printed in the next mag, but how can you show peeps two mags, and convince em it was yours, .......

I once received an email from the Editor saying that an article of mine was to be published in the November 2007 issue. It still hasn't seen the light of day.

It seems that if your opinions aren't the same as those of the editor then you must be wrong and not worthy of publication. Apart from that, don't dare to suggest doing anything other than what the so-called club experts tell us is right or you might save someone some time and money.

We seem to have lost the spirit of helping each other by sharing experiences. Did the recent article about the "Ultimate E-Type restoration anger other people as much as it did me? To my mind the ultimate restoration is one where the owner has used their spare time and skills to restore the car to better than its former glory by repairing as much of the original as possible. Simply re-shelling a car, whilst still a valid means of restoration, is an expensive short cut for those who can afford it. Convincing an owner to open their wallet wider than they had anticipated does not make you a marque specialist. The restorer in question has a certain reputation in the area where he is based but he seems to be finding his way into the JEC inner sanctum. I dismissed him as a chancer when he came to look at my car because he just wanted to undo all the work that the previous owner had paid a professional to do before abandoning the project when I knew the car was straight and sound.
