Series 1 2+2 4.2L Manual for sale

Postby Geordie » Wed Oct 31, 2012 1:37 pm

I knew this day would come someday, but it doesn't make it any easier..................

My beloved 2+2 is in A+ condition, is regularly used and has a Heritage Certificate plus matching numbers; it had a full nut and bolt restore in early 90's including engine and gearbox (restoration pictures, invoices and service history back to 1988). Just under 92000 miles (4000 since 1992). It's Dark Blue with French Blue interior (pictures on E type register LHH 777F), Upgrades include: full stainless steel exhaust, Coopercraft discs, twin fan radiator, fuel pump, spin on/off oil filter. Vehicle comes with 4 spare wheels & tyres, 4 spare spinners, and a small box of parts also an Airchamber to house it in. Goes in for routine service and early MOT next week. Reluctant sale, will sorely be missed, but funds needed for new project. - 3 owners from new - £25000 OVNO :(

Oh dear!

I'm pleased for you Steve, although a friend of mine was working on his wife to be allowed to have a look at your car. Never mind, there's plenty more out there for him to choose from and we get to keep an enthusiastic E-Type owner.

Hi Steve,

Obviously sorry you are not selling it. Please keep your ears open to help me find another. The more people looking the better! Hope you aren't in the "doghouse" too long!!

Regards Ian

Steve,

Having 'ogled' the pics of yours, a number of times over the past couple of wkkes, I can understand it must be difficult to let it go. I don't blame you for holding onto it - it looks fantastic.

So fantastic, that if you were to post a few more pics, that would be appreciated by many of us.

Enjoy,

David

Its even better now its been serviced MOT'd and had some air in the tyres - absolutely flies!

On the Memsahib front it appears she's pleased I'm keeping Geordie, it was all about seeing what commitment I had to moving house Vs the E Type, apparently I passed with flying colours! So everyone is happy, if anyone out there knows how a woman's mind works please let me know

Hi Steve,
I just read your post, having a series 1 2 + 2 myself. Glad you reconsidered. I did the same think with my Mk2 5 years ago, but unfortunately I sold it only for the house move to fall through!

Looking at the description and specification of your car, it sounds great. Now that you're keeping it I suggest that you get your valuation updated because I think 25k is too low. I finished a ground up restoration one year ago on my own S1 2+2 which is January 1967 ( the project I bought the replace the sold Mk2) and have a club valuation of 35k, so looking at the condition of yours, you may be under insured
Consider this too, There were only approx 1,370 series 1 2+2 RHD cars made, and of these only around 400 were destined for for the UK market. This makes the UK spec S1 2+2 quite a rare car in its own right.
Regards,
Arthur
