Header Tank Missing?

Hi,

Recently bought a Series 2 1970 which had been running but was an unfinished project. I intend to upgrade the cooling system as the original rad and fan are rather tired! However the pipework seems to not include the header tank and indeed the header tank is not there! I have searched but unable to find any article on the deletion of the header tank from the system, the expansion tank remains in place. Any experience of such a mod? Thanks

The Series 2 cooling arrangement with twin electric fans plus an expansion tank was a vast improvement on the earlier set-up. FWIW, one hot summer, my 1969 series 2 coped admirably with 43 degree temperatures in the centre of Madrid. The car coped much better than its occupants! Mike.
