I have fitted a modern power steering rack when my original rack started to leak.
This is a great improvement to me as the car feels a lot "tighter"and give a more positive feed back. No "tram lining"is experienced.
I had some initial problems with the hoses and fittings that came with the set. Main problem was that the bends were too tight for the hoses. (hoses too long and fittings with wrong bend). As the fittings have been modified for this type of rack to fit a series 3 it was difficult to get replacement hoses and the supplier of the new rack was sub-optimal in his support. I am still trying to find additional support to create a better routing for the hsoes but for the time being it works very nicely, but bends are still a bit tight.
