RHD footwell mats

Postby graeme@eclipseprocurement.com » Sun Apr 21, 2019 8:12 am

Good morning everyone, I am a new member to the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, after dreaming of one day owning an E Type, I’ve finally made it and at the ripe old age of 54 I have 251 XVE (1962 series1 in green) safely in my garage; still can’t believe it!! It won’t please the purists but it’s an imported US vehicle, originally in white but now changed to what I assume is British Racing green (although I’m hoping it’s a standard Jaguar green) with biscuit interior. I’ve purchased a conversion kit from Hutsons and aim to start the job in the next couple of weeks. I’ve seen various articles on the conversion and Hutsons also sent me a link to what appears a detailed guide but I’d welcome any thoughts/comments from any members that have been through the process. I’d particularly like to know where I can purchase a set of footwell carpets with the full length rubber heel mat if possible, the ones that I’ve seen on line seem to just have a relatively small rubber oblong panel under the pedals.
I’ve previously restored a number of (still have a 75 TR6) Triumphs and have found the Forums invaluable so I look forward to writing many posts in the months to come.
One other point which is confusing me, I have the dotty aluminium dash and the trim around the gearstick but the flat central section is covered in vinyl. It also has an armrest/cubby box between the seats; is this correct as I prefer the aly finish personally.
Best Regards
Graeme
