Hello, Can anyone help, I need a new petrol tank filter for my S3E the old one is past use. I have tried one from 4.2, no good as the pickup pipe is smaller than the 5.3 one. I have also tried one from a XJS which fits the pickup pipe but will not go into the fuel tank sump. So anythoughts?

Petrol Tank Filter
Hello Dave, Have now tried SNG Barrett, Martin Robey, David Manners, Norman Motors & R A Creamer, also carburetter specialist Southern Carburetters & Gower & Lee. They all say the part is not available. What I have been told by some that the XJS one is the listed option. But that will only fit into the tank sump with some cutting, which could make the filter useless.

Just saw that someone else was asking about the V12 fuel filter on Jag-lovers so I copied a reply:
I just looked at the invoice from four years ago when I replaced
mine. The SNG Barrett part # is C21900 and it says ''fuel tank
filter screen E 3.8/4.2''. It fit fine and is operating as it should
as I had the sump out a couple of weeks ago and confirmed its'
presence. I noticed that I did secure it to the pick up tube with a
radiator clamp.
Seems that they used a 3.8/4.2 fuel tank filter.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hello Dave, I have now got a XJS fuel tank filter fitted to my S3 'E'. I cut about 1& 1/4 in of the pickup pipe at an angle, pushed the filter onto the pickup pipe ( it's a good fit ) then put the pickup & return pipe assembly into the tank from the top as normal. It is working fine.
John.
ps. most of the pipe that I cut of was in the sump.
pps. thanks to all for your help.
