Ignition/starter switch

Postby richard.whittington » Wed Jan 27, 2021 11:35 pm

Hello All
I hope that you are coping in the current circumstances
I have a problem with the ignition switch on my 1972 E Type, as follows :;;>
When I turn the ignition key to the pre start position, it should activate the fuel pump..
Unfortunately, there is no response from the pump.
I have turned the key to the pre start position , discovered that there is no power through the white cable, from the switch to the fuel pump.
I can find no information on replacing the switch in my workshop manual, and I am reluctant to tamper with it, without further information.
Can anyone please advise me on this problem ?
Any assistance that you offer will be very much appreciated
Thanks a lot, and stay safe

Hi Richard,

An obvious question first - have you checked your battery? Even my modern e pace is giving me a “low battery” warning from relative lack of use.

Just a first thought.

Hello Simon
Thanks for your reply, and yes, the battery is fully charged.
Today I removed the starter switch, and found that input to the switch was o.k. But that there was no power from the switch to the pump.
I am now in the process of finding the reason for the lack of power to the pump.
Happy Days
