Headlight switch wiring

Postby Simonctype » Sat Aug 25, 2018 4:11 pm

Hi guys
I hope someone can help me I'm building a jaguar c type replica and was after some help with headlight switch wiring I'm using an e type rotary type Lucas headlight switch.
I need to identify what wires go to which terminal on the switch

As best as I can tell it has the following on the back of the switch 2,1,L or 7,6, S or 5 and 3,I think .

I want to know which terminal for sidelight headlight main beam and is the f on switch for fog light or full beam.

Also I'm using a 3 wire dim dip switch in conjunction for full beam

Thanks in advance if anyone can help👍

Hello Simon,

not much response to your query.
One option is to use a meter or bulb and battery to plot which terminals are made at each switch position and work to that. It doesn't take as much time as you might think. It should be apparent which terminal is the common to all switch positions?
You need to look for something like this. O should have no reading, S position common to one terminal, H position common to S plus one more, F position common to S and a different one more.

It's worth using relays for the headlamps to both save the switch workload and give brighter headlamps. Do you intend to use fog lamps on your replica?
