Door Remote Control Link Bracket

Postby rogerpearce99 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 7:03 pm

Hi,

Since buying my 1972 SIII E Type a couple of years ago we have only been able to open the passenger door using the interior door handle very occasionally; having now stripped the door down to replace various parts I have found that there is a plastic flattened loop which is a push fit into a metal bracket and through which the remote door lock link (BD32620) bar passes.

It appears that this plastic part stops the flat metal bar from flex too much therefore exerting enough pressure on the door locking mechanism. As yet I cannot find the remote door lock available as a spare part and all the spares catalogues I have, including the BL one, do not show the plastic slide or metal bracket, although the Repair and Operation Manual refers to 'drilling out the two pop rivets securing remote control link bracket to door'

Any thoughts or advice on whether this part is available or from other E Type owners who have experienced the same issue would be appreciated.

Thanks, Roger
