Hi Car Nut

My recommendation would be to take the fuel filler flap into him so he can mix up to match. There are a number of reasons that this would be the best approach as you might not be able to guarantee the original colour, fade may well play an issue and using the flap ensures correct match.

Hi Clive, I had a similar enquiry on paint code numbers a couple of years ago and Peter Ford (Colin's brother) told me there are a few lists, all different, but ICI were the suppliers to Jaguar. This confusion is one of the reasons why we didn't include them on the E-Type Register but I would have thought Colin or one of our other Techical Experts e.g. Alan Proctor & David Marks, has the answer as I assume they must all have come across your colour at some stage in their work (as would most reputable E-type businesses).

Hi Car Nut

If you get the paint code, especially red, there is no guarantee that the paint will match the car. The pigmentation in red paint is probably the worst for fade, unless the car has been repainted in the last 5 years when paint vastly improved. So even if you tracked down the correct code for your car paint, given the time thats elapsed and the pigmentation quality issues surrounding the colour red you can still have a mismatch.

Thats why I suggested taking a bit of the car in.

Pat

I know this is an old thread but, I don't see any definitive answer to the question so maybe this will help others:

If there is anything wrong with this list of colours, with paint codes, perhaps someone will enlighten :?:
