Postby jmgtaylor » Sat Nov 14, 2009 12:17 am

I am sure I have seen this recently as a post somewhere, but does anyone know the correct location of the stick on front number plate on teh bonnet - just bee to teh NEC today and there is rather a large variance between cars. Mine is an S2 OTS.

Number Plate

Postby PoB » Sat Nov 14, 2009 11:26 am

Hi Mark

Strictly speaking its illegal to have the plate mounted in the fashion that 99.9% of UK E Types do.

I don't believe there is a "standard" fit, just go with how it appears to you to be in the right place, more aesthetic than anything.

I normally go for around 5" down from the peak of the bonnet bulge and of course central. You may wish to differ as its a preference.

Best of luck
Regards
Pat

On my S1 the upper edge of the numberplate is 4.75" down from the peak of the bulge, but I can't guarantee that its in the original position.

Mark,

A tip for getting it right is spray soapy water on the bonnet area then put the plate on, you can move it about until you get it right.
You then keep pushing the larger bubbles out from the centre. They will disapear of there own accord anyway.
