Series 1 chrome headlamp surround fixing.

Hi, just checking something here. The headlamp surrounds on my car are fixed with self-tappers of dubious origin. I asked SNGB and they gave me a part number of BD26675/4, which are much better looking but still just screws.

Is there nothing like a speed fastener or spire clip that the screws would locate into or do they really just screw into holes in the bonnet itself?

Thanks, Simon.

Hi Simon
I'm not sure about those screws. They are posi drive, but the origanals are slotted.
Eitherway, they scew into captive nuts - small rectangular bits of metal with a hole drilled and tapped held in place by a small cage. You need to check these are still there.
Let us know how you get on.

I need to retract my earlier comment. I've just found out the screws were changed to pozi-drive in April 1964. So correct for most cars.
