I have just become the owner of a fantastic series 3, all is good but a couple of minor issues. The piston/damper that controls the decent of the bonnet when closing has become separated from the front cross frame. The bracket, which was a black plastic; has broken and leaving the piston arm free. This leaves the bonnet free to slam shut if not checked, does this mean I need to replace the whole assembly, or is it possible to purchase just the anchor bracket?
Another issue, the radiator cap seems to allow water to seep out when under pressure, a knowledgeable friend thought maybe I shop get another cap with a higher pressure release, good tip?
Bonnet damper/ piston anchor broken, and!
Re: Bonnet damper/ piston anchor broken, and!
I'm not a series 3 owner but presume the bonnet stay is likely the same as an S2.
Question, what actually is broken? The mount onto the picture frame is usually steel. Is it the plastic end of the strut? One of these:

Hi Jerry
Thanks for that, the end of the piston rod has no fitting on it at all and the receptacle joint on the sub frame looks broken and that is black plastic. The bonnet has just the one damper and I see in the add that it suggest fitting two, it maybe that I begin again and discard the existing and f9t the second while I'm about it.

I see the description of that strut states that there is a pair used.
If you call SNG Barrett they will be able to find the bracket which goes on the frame - if they have it, of course. They may even 3D print one if not.
