Hello fellow members, eventually i have got round to spending time on the e type project.
As one will see from my previous blog i am converting from LHD to RHD.
It is here i have encountered a problem, my lower dash panel has , by some previous owner, been cut out where the lower column alloy bracket should be mounted. this i can have repaired. It is another section cut out which i require to maintain a neat and tidy finish. This is the part of the bulkhead / firewall behind the steering and brake shrouds. I have added an attachment / photo to make it clear just what it is i need. Ideally i would want the section cut tight under the screen gutter track and again tight along the bottom join of the panel thus avoiding visible welding joins next to the brake fluid reservoirs.
The 2" circular hole which has been crudely drilled out shall be welded in again.
Obviously i need to find someone with a scrap body tub as a donor. Trying to track down the person who bought the white body tub on ebay recently. Where are you Stu ???
Any feedback re. the part required or a contact to someone who may have such will be greatly appreciated . To refresh my e type is a 1967 late series 1.
Thanks in advance.
Eugene.

Re: Section of Bulkhead / Firewall required.
Hi Mike, thanks for your response and the links.
I have checked all the parts suppliers and no one has the bit i need.
I believe the only chance is to find someone who has a rotten or severely damaged body tub.
I will hold back on trying a patch repair as i want to have it right.
Regards
Eugene.

Hi Eugene,
I recommend that you talk to Andy at Hutson Motors in Bradford. You'll find their details on the internet.
I needed to source some under-dash panels for my own 1967 E Type restoration and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Hutson manufacture E Type Body shells from scratch and even if they don't manufacture all the panels, they know where to source the difficult to find bits
Regards,
Arthur

Hello Eugene,
if you are talking about the large rectangular hole, that would be quite a simple fabrication so as to avoid having to find a donor shell. Also, apart from extending the hole to the right so as to avoid having to weld where the cable comes through, it doesn't need any further enlargement as it is not difficult to weld in and grind down to give an invisible repair?
