Heavy Clutch

Just had a 1973 series 3 E-Type converted to RHD. It already had a 5 speed box and during the conversion the clutch slave cylinder was found to be leaking and fixed with a service kit. I thought the heavy clutch would ease with use but to no avail. The garage who converted the car suggest a new clutch (which bites and feels OK to me). Can you suggest anything else we can try.
