Hi there,
Seeking a bit of guidance as the overdrive on my 1970 2+2 ( gear lever switch mounted) is very slow to engage, the more so when cold. Can hear the switch initiating, but when cold it doesn't want to engage, but once the engine has warmed up it will take upwards of 20 seconds or so to engage. It will disengages instantly.
Suspect this is a solenoid issue, but I accept that there is bound to be someone out there with better and more accurate knowledge than me. In any event, is it an easy job to switch out the solenoid? I don't have a ramp or anything at home, but if it is a fairly straightforward job I'm happy to do a swap and thus eliminate this as a cause.
Thanks everybody, Best Chris

Re: Overdrive slow to engage
Hello Chrisalis888,
as it does engage the solenpoid must be working so replacement will not acheive anything. It may require adjustment, what type of overdrive is it as E Types don't usually have one?
It is worth doing an oil chnage on the gearbox, check the overdrive filter is clean and ensure the level is correct once refilled?
These are relatively easy things to do, after that it gets a bit more involved.
