My Series 2, 2+2 has its original 1969 autobox and whilst it operates as its supposed to and has never given me any problems I am very aware that even when new the autobox stifled the performance of the car. However it's now 45 years old and I'm beginning to wonder whether there is a newer box that will fit, give the car better legs on longer journeys and that will allow the car to show its true potential. Alternatively would a rebuild of the existing box be a better option.
I've looked at E-Type Fabs and given consideration to their auto to manual conversion but at £7k I'm not sure that I want to commit that sort of money even though in most other circumstances money is not an issue if the car needs work to keep it in tip top condition.

Maybe a bit late now, but Whitehouse Engineering do a ZF 4 speed auto conversion.
