wheels....

Postby 1492columbus » Sun Apr 05, 2009 11:46 am

I have taken my chrome wires out of storage for cleaning only to find that they are not a full matching set. two are curly hub, and two flat hub.

This in itself is not a huge problem, but the flange which mounts these wheels onto the axles are. For example, one set has a shallow "dish" and the others have quite a marked recess.

Which set should be used for 1967/8 vehicle?.
Can i tell from the axles, if i also have a "mixed pair" ?

Bit of a hard one really has your car got covered headlights and the toggle switches on the dash?
The reason I ask is you are right in the middle of the Series 1 to Series 2 car which is known as the Series 1 1/2.
As far as I know the S1 had the curly hub wheels and the S2 had the flat hub which made cleaning easier.
If your car has the covered headlights then you should have the curly hub wheels.
I can't answer the second part of your question to be honest if you can send a photo then I can tell you which hubs I have on mine and mine are the curly hubs.
