67 popping after engine turn off

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and have a question about my 67 4.2L roadster in BRG with factory the triple carbs .

The other day I started up my car after a few months of sitting. While I was driving At a cold temperature it had some hesitation ( like a short stop) has I was accelerating but after about 10 minutes that stopped when the temperature got warmer It was then was accelerating very smooth . So when I came back home and turn the engine off it made a very loud pop! Like a gun shot.

Any thoughts ?

Nice car! I'm no expert but I'd say your initial hestitation is old stale fuel working its way through?

The loud pop, or backfire is unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust.....a few causes are possible including the timing being out or the carbs running very rich.

It may be worth getting the carbs checked first, however, if the car has been unused for a long time then I'd stick some nice fresh 97 octane in and give it a good run, see if the problem persists.
