Engine not sitting straight!

I have re fitted the engine after a gearbox rebuild. All good so far apart from the speedo drive is touching the body in the gearbox tunnel.

I have tried a few methods but have not managed to correct the alignment of the engine so that it sits in a better position.

All the previous work was done on a friends lift, the car is now back in my garage so I am working with jacks and axle stands.

My next method will be to hire a hydraulic hoist and lift the whole engine with the engine mounts unbolted and try and reposition the engine. The new heavy duty mounts I am using seem to have different spacing of the two oval holes for the bolts to the chassis. I need to get these off and check things out.

Has anyone come across a similar problem?
