Could you please advise the stud torque setting and sequence of tightening once head gasket has been fitted. 1963, 3.8

After 64000 miles since new I have had a new clutch fitted !! and new head gasket fitted to my 1962 FHC e-type but there is a new development and I cannot fathom out why after all these years steam is coming out of the breather hose into the air filter housing. I am thinking one option is to loosen the nuts and then re tighten them in the correct order and torque setting just to eliminate any gasket failure due to torque issues OR should I check the water pressure for any leaks when the engine is hot OR just disconnect the breather hose from the air filter unit and let it hang loose and see if matters sort themselves out over the next few miles ? Your ideas and comments are appreciated.

Hi,
Torque loading is 54 lbs. /ft. for 14 cyl Head dome nuts
Sequence 11- 9- 3- 1- 5- 7- 13
12- 8- 6- 2- 4-10-14

Torque loading is 54 lbs. /ft. for 14 cyl Head dome nuts
Sequence 11- 9- 3- 1- 5- 7- 13
12- 8- 6- 2- 4-10-14

That's good advice if you have a picture showing which nuts the numbers correspond to.

Sorry for the confusion,
Unfortunately when I pressed the submit button the sequence moved around.

If you simply write out those numbers on a sheet of paper ensuring that 13 is above 14 and at one end and 11 is above 12 at the other and that 1 is above 2 at the centre then you have it.

11 is on the inlet side at the timing chain end,12 is on the exhaust side also at the timing chain end

So 11,9, 3,1,5, 7,13 all on the inlet side SO, 12, 8, 6, 2, 4,10, 14.All on the exhaust side.
