Hi

The air filters speak for themselves, the radio reinstalled by them, they connected a permanent live to the aerial wire which was left bare and had shorted out, right hans speaker not connected, the air temperature sender was left in place, the cooling hose ready to burst ! why the hell would you put that back in ????
The spark plugs clearly showing how rich the car was running, the center consul is not fitted correctly.
There had obviously been some pre-ignition in the past which burned the air filter on the left hand bank, the right hand bank air filter is also in a very bad state, this is after they said they had tuned the carbs !!!???
They must have had a blind technician working on the car !!!!??? I am lost for words.

Hi Vince,
That is terrible from a supposedly so called specialist  .
I'm not a qualified machanic by a long way but even I can see the issues here.
It must be so annoying for you,I hope you get it resolved.
Keep your chin up.
Take care.

Hi

Things have gone from bad to worst !!

On the way down the Just Historics and Motor Legends a few weeks ago my cars engine blew up.
It seems that E-Type UK did not change the oil and filter, the car was also running very rich which could have
contributed to the engine failure.
The engine is now removed and has been picked up for a rebuild by the Brian Ball who supplied the new heads.
So after charging me me for 100 hours labour for the work they done it all has to be undone. £12500 down the drain !!

Hi

I have heard back from Brian regarding the engine from my E-type V12, it is not good news !

The engine is being completely re-built and he has found other signs of poor workmanship from the
supposedly E-type specialists.
The engine was not timed properly when reassembled, the timing chains were out of time, mating surfaces were not cleaned properly,
old gaskets were re-used, wrong nuts used, oil and filter were not changed ect ect.
This is terrible considering they say they are the E-type specialists !!! unfortunately they will not offer a refund so I am now having to
take them to court.
I have added more pictures to show their terrible work !!!

Hi

I am waiting on the freshly rebuilt engine to arrive, this is the sad state of my car at the moment.

I have now started court proceedings against E-type UK, they are refusing to refund me so I have no choice.

I am hoping to have the car back on the road for next year, there is a question that needs answering !
Do I know sell the car because of the new engine will make it worth more plus all this has left a bitter taste
in the mouth and rather spoils my enjoyment of the car !!

Hi all and a happy new year.

I am very glad to be able to say that my son and I have just installed the newly re-built engine in my E-type, :D

The engine has been completely re-built by Brian Ball who is the best V12 engine builder in the UK, I am so thankful to him
for doing such a great job, I would also like to thank Rob Beer racing for their help as well.
Lewis and I have got the engine running today with just a couple of coolant leaks and the offside rear carb leaking from the bottom.
The coolant leaks were from fasteners not tight enough, the petrol leak was the o ring, we tightened every thing up and replaced the o ring
at the bottom of the carb. I did forget to wire up the cooling fans but realised before it got to hot !!
We now have to re-fit the interior and put the bonnet back on, then we will be on a test drive yippeeeeeee.
It has taken my son and I less than three days to get to this point once we had the engine back, it took E-type UK 100 hours just to do the head gaskets and a couple of minor jobs !!!??? what a bunch of crooks, all that time and money and we had to do it all again.

Vince,

So very pleased to hear that you've now made positive progress and are on the homeward stretch!

I hope there is an amicable satisfactory conclusion to all your problems.

Cheers

Hi

I thought I would put in an update on what has been going on with my E-type.

I have the bonnet back on the car and have the car running, I am having a bit of trouble with the nearside front carb.
It seems to be running lean but I cannot seem to change it, if I lift the piston the car tries to stall, this indicates a lean mixture.
IO have adjusted the needle as much as i can but it does not seem to change the mixture, car still tries to stall !
I am going to take the car out for a run when the weather picks up a bit and then have a look at the spark plugs to
see how they are burning, I find this a much better way to gauge how good the mixture is, if its showing a lean mix which I suspect it will, I will have to remove the carb and have a closer look, I am expecting to find some crud in there somewhere, maybe a blocked jet !
The interior went back in with no problems, I have now rewired the radio after E-type UK messed it up.
The bonnet went back on with no problems and has lined up nicely.
I will post again once i have taken the car out for its first run since putting the engine back in.
All the best
Vince

Hi

We have run into a problem with the E-type engine re-install, we took her out for its first run since we put the rebuilt engine back in.
I was having trouble tuning the nearside carbs, it was running lean and also it sounded like a slight blow from the manifold on the offside !
When we returned form the run the blow was more evident, it turned out we had not tightened the manifold properly and it blew out a gasket.
The manifold had a broken fixing point for the heat shield so we decided to replace it, we managed to get it off with some knuckle skinning work and replaced it with a new one from SNG (note ! they do not come with the studs for the exhaust down pipes)
With the new manifold fitted I again tried to tune the carbs, i still could not get the nearside carbs rich enough ! then, my son noticed there was an open tube/pipe coming out of the right hand inlet manifold above the one for the vacuum tank !! I had not noticed this and it was this that was causing the lean mixture on the carb, once plugged the carb was then running with the correct mixture :)
We had our second trial run and all is now looking much better, I will get a few more miles on the clock and then have a look at the plugs to see how the mixture is, I want to get 500 miles on the new engine before we go to the meeting at the Coventry transport museum in June.
Happy days !!

Well done! A nice logical approach to sorting out the problems and shaking down the car.

Hi

I thought I would post an update on the car and E-type UK

I have now done over 500 miles in the car, all seems to be going well.
I have just changed the oil and filter and been on anther run which went well, we are now ready for the drive to Coventry.
I will be checking the spark plugs to see if they are colouring up ok.
The thing that is not going well is the court case against E-type UK, the courts have managed to mess up the mediation
and I am waiting on a new court date.
I have not heard anything from E-type UK which I suppose is understandable as they don't give a s&@t
More to come !!
