Travel in the EU

Postby selminer » Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:14 pm

Hi Fellow e type owners
I hope to be taking the series 1 e type to Spain this year and driving through France to get there.
Can somebody tell me what I have to do with the lights to block out the right hand dipping lights please.
I have some stickers that I used on the sealed beam unit on a modern car or can I blank out the lights on the light glass covers?
I know which is easiest and I am hoping that it will not be necessary to remove the glasses from the bonnet.

Many thanks Peter

You can buy beam deflectors for most types of headlights; no need to remove the lens, they just stick on.
Get them before you go as they are expensive at the ferry ports.
Do not tape over the lights to stop them throwing the wrong way; it is illegal abroad as it cuts down the light output.

Don,t forget to take all the other stuff that the French say you have to have. Like breathalyser kits, bright yellow safety vests, warning triangles etc. And in Spain you must carry a spare pair of glasses in the car if you need them for driving.
