Geordies original post brought a smile to my face when he said that a lack of response would assume owners are dead or in old peoples homes.
I am 55 and purchased my E in 2011 at 50. I had a goal to complete a ground up resto prior to my wedding in 2013!
Unfortunately in early 2012 with the E in bare metal in the spray booth I had a major heart issue following which I passed to the other side for about 30 minutes, I was in a coma for 7 days and in hospital for 47 days (God thank the Heart Institute at Bristol)
So I guess I was one of Geordies dead owners !!
After a long recovery I was very surprised to find my E where I left her surprisingly rust free.
I am a lucky man, I was a dead owner but now a living one, I have a fully restored E which was completed and had its very first outing to the wedding in 2013. (just)
Oh and I got married too.

I have only just seen this thread shame on me!!!
I have had my series 3 2+2 in signal red since October 2010 when I was 50, I think its fantastic although showing its age at 92K and having never been fully restored just repaired here and there.
I bought a V8 F type last year but still think the E type is the best so I know which one will stay if I ever have to choose.
I also have a 1936 Armstrong Siddeley (engine currently being rebuilt)
3 Stags waiting for restoration I will get 1 out of them I hope

Projects (in order of dealing with them):

A 1991 Series 4 Alfa Spider LHD (being refurbished/restored - mechanics largely done, dealing with paint and electrics)
A 1976 Alfa Romeo Junior LHD (needs freshening up/new engine, possibly a 2 lt Nord upgrade and fast road/race Alfaholics package)
A 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mk III RHD (rolling shell (largely welded/de-rusted) - waiting in a Carcoon to be restored - this is after the E Type has been finished)

Day-to-day cars

A 2003 Mercedes SLK RHD - London runabout
A 2004 Range Rover Vogue RHD - Snotter used for buying car parts/moving student son and things from A to B. Shortly going to auction as getting beyond economic repair and I now have the XJR6
A 2010 Porsche Panamera S LHD - Motorway and continental driving

As you might divine, I find it easier to buy vehicles than let them go.

Although not an E owner as yet wife has the funds in her purse for us to buy one. Looked at lot's and indeed going to Buxton tomorrow hoping a Blue S3 V12 Roadster falls within budget.

I was 21 when I bought my first one, for £500 at 70,000 ish miles, and 28 when I sold it, having covered 217,000 miles in it. CWB664B; I believe that it's still about.
