Hi fellow E Type Owners,

For some time now myself and a few others have been trying to think of ways we can encourage a little more club activity and camaraderie in the E Type Forum. The XJS and the XK guys have a well established events calendar with both running at least one run, outing or activity every year.

So here is an idea to get the E Type Events moving in the right direction.

You will already know about the Prescott Hill Climb Event on Sunday 18th May, well I am putting together details of a run around part of the well known Cotswold Romantic Road, known as "The Road for Today" for Saturday 17th May, thus enabling you to make a decent weekend out of Prescott and have a blast around some very nice backroads in good company.

The outline consists of starting from Cheltenham Racecourse ( with tea/coffee etc) around mid-morning Saturday, driving a route around 40 -50 miles before stopping for lunch in the Chipping Campden area. After lunch we then have another 50 or so miles to cover via Stow on the Wold and the Slaughters, before heading back towards Cheltenham for a finish mid-to-late afternoon depending on how long lunch takes.

This will then leave you the evening free to take in the delights of a meal at a hostelry or otherwise near to your hotel or B&B.and enable you to be ready for the Sunday's activities at Prescott.

I hope this will appeal to some of you and that we can use this as a springboard far at least one annual run out for the club's E Type community.

though not an E-Type driver , i will pop along to see them set off on their adventure in my xjs

maybe others would pop along for a coffee to start the day ?

and then we can all meet up for Prescott the day after.....?

I got quite depressed while reading your proposal, cos I'd love to come along, but I can't...... Already booked that weekend for a family do, and I live in South East London, so it would also be quite a trek. If you ever organise anything in Kent, I'll be there! Don't give up, it's always difficult to organise something that will suit people, but I hope you get some takers and have a great time up the Hill,

Thanks for the vote of support, though I assume you are being ironic, a trek ? From SE London to Cheltenham, can't be 100 miles, its further for me!!

No plans for Kent, but there will be a Jag do in the Essex/Suffolk area in 2015, too early for details yet...

i take it this isn't happening ?

Well I was giving it until the end of march, but at the moment unless a dozen cars burst out of the undergrowth in the next day or two I think we have to work on the basis it won't happen. Thanks for your support anyway...and we should still consider the Racecourse as a potential venue for the future so maybe a chat with someone after Thoresby would be good...

I will follow up again with the Jag dealer, work has been taking a lot of time recently but I will get it to the top of my agenda and ring them.

From the tone of the piece about Prescott in the April magazine, I am wondering if that too is going to happen.

To avoid any doubt, Prescott will definitely be going ahead, it would be nice if more members would get their forms into HQ, that's what we meant - and please remember that we write these pieces sometimes 6 weeks ahead of when the magazine is published so by the time you read it the world has moved on.
