Despite the occasional torrential downpour that threatened us with the weather doing another "Thoresby", last Sunday's Northern Day at Newby Hall was a success with over 70 E-Types on site, many of them lined up together in an impressive display. After the Silverstone Classic weekend [22nd - 24th July], which really does look like being "The Big One" with over 1500 E-Types expected on Saturday's track parade to try & break a Guinness World Record, Southern Day is our next major event. It'll be held at Beaulieu in Hampshire and once again we will have dedicated parkng for E-Types, let's try and beat Northern Day's turn out and hit 100! Southern Day at Beaulieu turned out to be as good as Northern Day apart from my eventful 200 mile return home. After a cow decided to have a rest in the middle of Beaulieu's village street and we had to queue to navigate around it, I got stuck in the inevitable minor-accident related several mile crawl to the M3/M25 junction which warmed the car up considerably (but no brake-stick thanks to Colin Ford's words of wisdom). Bad news is whilst poking around my engine bay for fellow enthusiasts' problems the cooing fans' in-line fuse holder somehow got unlatched so they didn't come on when needed in this traffic congestion. Fortunately I spotted the temperature gauge rising and that the [retro-fitted] fans-on indicator light hadn't come so I managed to quickly pull onto the hard shoulder - soon rectified & only lost a couple of pints of water. More bad news, I got severe cramp in my left leg in the evening - presumably thanks to all that clutch work !
