Twin tail pipe conversion

Has anyone tried and succeeded in converting the single exhaust system on a 2.0L petrol model to a twin exhaust system (like on the 2.5/3.0 models)?
Ive seen a diesel converted from single to twin outlets so petrol will be possible.You need to split the single into twin pipes with a Y piece.
