Diesel smell

Not sure if this is exhaust related, but suffer strong smell of part burnt diesel in rear of car, mostly following short start/stop trips. X type 2.0 diesel saloon 54 reg. Anyone else experiencing similar problems, or have a solution?

Interesting.

Check in the boot to see if all the carpets and trim are fitting correctly and, believe it or not, that your boot is shutting fully.

I've noticed that the smallest gap in the rear fittings with the trim on the saloon and the diesel estate really does let in some nasty wafts!

Its not something I would have thought of. Have noticed in the past that the boot lining tends to seperate from the side trim at times, so highly likely that this is causing the problem.
