A seriously good article by Keith Adams of AROline which details the development of the X-type and its market placement along other Jaguar models of the period.
The article debunks the often inaccurate myths that surround the X-type and examines the design philosophy of this model and its competitors. In addition it also tells the stories of sister Jaguar models including the S-type. I found it somewhat amusing to see the interior trim on the early S-type described rather irreverently as "urinal". I`d heard the interior described previously as "More pub than club". Certainly early model trim does leave much to be desired. The X-type got off to a much better start in that regard.
Anyway, enjoy this article. It will take about twenty minutes to read as it is packed with a huge amount of information.
