So, £39,200 paid. Was that a bargain for a top spec X-type with such provenance? It will be interesting to know what the future holds for this most famous of X-types. Is it destined for a museum or has it been bought by an individual to be used and displayed at events. Is it remaining in the UK? Will it receive repairs to bring the car up to first class condition or will its patina and any "battle scars" be simply preserved?
It would be great to feature an article on the car and its new owner in the X-type section of the monthly magazine - please get in touch if that person is you.
Thanks Dave. X-type Coordinator.

What kind of idiot pays that much for an X-type, regardless of which dead person's backside has been in the driver's seat?

Probably someone who couldn't afford £740,000 for Diana's Ford Escort.

Which pales into insignificance when compared to the £12,000.000 which Andrew's Escort cost him.

I don't believe the comments above intended to pose any slight towards our beloved late monarch, they are questioning the logic of the subsequent purchasers of royal cars. The remarks are highlighting the extraordinary extent to which some individuals are prepared to go to possess cars whose only difference from the same models without such provenance, is that someone famous has sat in them, and which cars can be bought routinely for a lot less money. Sentiment is a strange commodity. Despite all their foibles, there's a lot of it expressed on this forum in support of our favoured car marque, Jaguar! Mike.

Agree Mike. I must admit I was tempted by a car that the Queen drove, (my wife even more so), but not at that price. It could, however, be a very shrewd investment as I suspect the value will increase. Each to their own.
