Hi, A little more information is required to be able to offer any accurate help. You didn't say but I presume it is a diesel engine model? Has the vehicle been scanned for fault codes? If it has and none are present then it may be a case of working through it in a systematic logical way, starting with the easy things first. It may be that you will need to find a Jaguar independent garage local to you who will be more familiar with the model and may have experience of similar faults. Is the servicing up to date etc. If you can post some more information then hopefully members will reply and offer possible causes of the poor running for you or a garage to check etc.

I've had a few diagnostics from gear box fault to filters to fuel line problems. It seems the mechanics are trial and error but this costs me every time they carry out checks and repairs that don't seem to remedy the problem. What l need is a mechanic to get in and drive it. A good mechanic would be able to narrow down what it could be. A diagnostic can throw up all sorts of possibilities. Thank you to anyone who could fix it

Hi again. Perhaps for a more certain outcome it would be best to use one of the independents that advertise in the JEC magazine. One that you can access relatively easily from your location. Someone like David Marks in the Nottingham area would be an example. David will also offer you technical advice in his role for the club, perhaps drop him an email or ring him to help with making the right choice of action? Also you could contact your local region to see which garages other club members use. There is always a solution to whatever the problem is, you need to take it to a suitable garage which will diagnose it correctly using their specialist knowledge and experience. An independent Jaguar specialist would be my recommendation.

I had similar symptoms in an Alfa and a Freelander; both turned out to be the cat breaking up in the exhaust and blocking the free passage of the exhaust stream.
Removed the cats and they were both fine.
