It's been a pleasure to own and drive but will be saying good bye to it in January, just too expensive to export to Portugal. Did a quick trip to Portugal through France and Spain in the first week in November and it was faultless returning an average of 51.7 mpg. Sadly I think it may just be getting scrapped as it will be due an mot in February and I won't have time to do it and will need to get rid just as I leave. Very sad, but needs must, so if any one in the Manchester area wants a good but cheap 2.2 deisel saloon in mid February then let me know.
Managed to find a few x types in Portugal but not a lot of choice so may end up with a Mercedes or volvo, maybe even a van yet. At least I still have my 67 420,that's staying forever.

Jagaz, Its great to hear just how the X-type has delivered on everything you demanded from it. With that record how can you contemplate consigning it to scrap without a better reason than you give? I urge you to make every effort to rehome it.

The problem is that it's done over 160 000 miles, the aircon pump is seized, the remote central locking doesn't work (car , not keys) and it now has a damaged drivers wing. With only a month's mot left at most when I'm ready to let it go then sadly there isn't much value in it. I would rather it went to a good home but will have to see in January.

Maybe advertise it in the JEC classifieds section from now as spares or repair, with a completion / transfer date that fits in with your plans? At least you have a chance to pass it on to someone who will benefit? Just an idea.

Or put it on eBay? I sold both my old XJs on there, ok didn't get a huge amount, but at least it's not getting scrapped.

Had a result, one of the lads I work with will be taking it of my hands when I leave, so not going for scrap.
Retired today, strange feeling knowing I won't be earning any more but not complaining, not many get to retire at 56.

A great result for both of you!
Enjoy yourself, but find plenty to do!
