Hello,
I own a 2.2 diesel Sovereign estate, which I love. However the poor thing has developed a few things which I do find frustrating, so if anybody has any advise I will be more than willing to "listen"!
The first, there is a low frequency "squeak" from the nearside rear corner when going over even slightly undulating road surface which disappears when I apply the handbrake, even about 20% will instantly stop the squeak. The rear brakes have been replaced as have the nearside suspension strut. Obvious items like the rear tailgate have been adjusted and oiled.
Recently there is a higher frequency "squeak" on the offside rear...
The second problem is connected with the parking sensors which have been looked at by a mechanic who has informed me the module is U/S.
Any advise where to get a new unit from?
The third problem is after a recent visit to a different garage the old fashioned navigation system is now saying "this is not a MAP-DVD" can anybody explain to me what this means? Sorry, I'm not a computer guy hence the question. It would be nice to get the nav system working even as it is an old one, perhaps I can get an upgrade?
Sorry it's such a lengthy post, but I appreciate any advise!!! Thank you!!!
Advise on a few points please!

Is your Sat Nav a DVD driven one? If so, just removing and cleaning it might solve that issue. Parking sensors may just be a sensor that is faulty, can check them to see if they tick when in reverse gear, it is audible with your ear next to them, ignition on, reverse gear, engine off obviously!

The first thing to decide with suspension squeaking and groaning is where to start
. However, it has been discussed in this forum before and the advice therein is still a good starting point for you

We covered some of your parking sensor problems in a recent thread
SNG Barratts have some new in stock, but places like AutoReserve just have to be checked almost on a daily basis. It's always worth giving them a ring as they do try to help owners get what they want.
One other thought is that there are module repairers these days. It could be worth a Google and an email or two?
The satnav message, that I also get once in a while, probably has an expensive solution somewhere, but the no-cost quick way is to remove the satnav DVD from nav player in the boot, above or below the 6 CD changer. Ignition On, press the eject button, wipe the DVD to ensure it's clean put it back in and restart from the screen. Then, hopefully, all is well, but needing occasional repeat treatment
My nav disc is dated 2011-2012 and I don't think Jaguar went further than that, but the after-market may offer something online.

Thank you folks for the very valuable information!!!
I can check the SatNav DVD tomorrow, and I have booked the poor girl into the local garage for them to look at the "squeak".
Thanks again for everything!!

Re: Advise on a few points please!
Just an update on the Nav system that wasn't working...
As advised I found the Nav box in the boot, didn't even know it was there...
Cleaned the disc, and YES! it works!!!
I am planning to get a newer DVD from eBay making sure it is compatible with the Denso system.
Thanks again folks for your advise! I know it's an old map system but I like to see it working!!

Re: Advise on a few points please!
Hi Bob, my advice is DON'T get a map update from eBay. These pirate discs can corrupt the old Satnav system and, in some cases the error is not recoverable. Leave well alone and enjoy the view that you now have.

Sound advice from Jim. The last official disc was 2012 I believe, which mine has. The X-type SatNav is very good for its time, and still will get you to all the places that haven't been updated! If you don't mind being in a noughties time warp the infotainment system is great. For more modern applications the "Jagdroid" option which I understand can be retrofitted requires a fair bit of work and money.
