I've been having a problem for a little while with the bonnet catches not resetting after opening so not being able to shut it properly without prodding the catches down.
Went to open it today and only one catch released so now can't open it or shut it properly.
The cable does not appear to have broken.
Any ideas on this one?

Ok, so got some info off another forum which was quite helpful.
Get the car on a lift or jack it up as high as you can.
You can just see the catches from underneath and if you have long skinny arms you can reach them; you don't have to remove the under tray or bumper.
A long thin, flat piece of metal can be pushed up from underneath and you then push the lever towards the left to release each catch.
We replaced the catches with good 2nd hand ones although once the old ones were out they seemed ok; the problem appears to be the cable not returning properly. Also the plastic fittings next to the ferrules were knackered.
We didn't have time to change the cable although it looks reasonably straightforward but oiled the old one, reattached it and it works fine.
If it fails again we know how to open the bonnet now so will change the cable then.
Topped up all the fluids before shutting the bonnet again!
