Two throttles

Forgive me if this has been covered before but I don't usually visit this section (S-type driver). Yesterday I had the opportunity to drive - very briefly - an automatic X-type saloon which had two throttle pedals, one either side of the brake pedal. Each one could be folded up out of the way allowing the driver a choice. The lady owner was using the left pedal. Was this a standard fitting on these cars?
