The remote on my 2003 3-litre sport has just stopped working and I am having to lock/unlock the car with the key. I have changed the battery in the remote and tried the spare remote but no joy. Any advice about next steps would be much appreciated. Thanks. Charlie.
Re: Remote not locking/unlocking car
Charlie,
this might sound stupid, but did you clean the contacts in the remote when you changed the battery. I had the same problem on my wife's S Type and it wasn't the battery at all it was the contacts needing cleaned. A light rub with a pencil rubber cured the problem.

Re: Remote not locking/unlocking car
Hi Gordon, many thanks - it was certainly worth a try - but unfortunately no luck. Any other thoughts? I've also cleaned-up the key slot in the ignition barrel but no joy with that either. Thanks again. Charlie

Hi Charlie,
unfortunately I don't have any other thoughts on the matter, all I can think of is the age old question which I am sure you will see a lot of on the forum " is your car battery fully charged". Other than that I am sure someone with more experience will come along shortly and answer your question. Have you looked for other threads on the forum on the same subject?
