Parking aid.

Hello all,

I have front and rear parking aids on my car and they do not work. Initial investigation showed a spare wheel well half full of water. The Parking aid module was just touching the water level. Drained the well, removed and cleaned the module and sprayed contact cleaner on the plugs and sockets. Still nothing. Listening to each sensor in turn and I could hear nothing from any of them.
Checked the two parking aid fuses, both intact (Whose idea was it to fit the fuse box in such an awkward position with the cables obscuring a quarter of the board?)
My Britishdiagnostics tester(which uses the Jaguar SDD system) gave no trouble codes for the system, but that maybe as I'm new to the diagnostics and may be using it wrongly?

My best guess is that a new module is required?

Yes, they often get drowned!

If in a damp or wet boot, the internal module pc board can grow an alarming quantity of copper sulphate on the board. You could try restoring the board but in my experience a new module with the EXACT same part number, is usually the only thing that will get the system going again.

i have had this issue several times now, and am in need of a new rear module myself,

bear in mind there are several generations of module, all with different plug types, mine has the three plugs, earlier versions just had one plug with a different loom

Hello Rob,

is it definitely serviceable? I see used ones on E-Bay for not a lot less than a new unit from Manners or Baratts?

Th enumber on mine is 4X43 15K866 3D and is the three plug type and for front and back aids.

Hello all,

a little update, I bought a new module and now have output from five of the eight sensors so some progress. Weather permitting I'll get it up in the air shortly and see if I can check the connections to the detectors. Once again it seems, there are a variety of detectors, depending on year and physical location?

I had been having engine problems, posted on another section but the problem did not bring up an Check Engine light, when I first switch on the ignition the Check Engine light does not come on while other warnings do? Is that normal or have I a defect?
